Staedtler and Samsung made an old-school pencil-like S Pen

Along with a pair of new tablets and some 5G equipment, Samsung unveiled a fresh new version of its S Pen stylus that looks incredibly familiar. The new stylus is just like German pencil maker Staedtler's Noris stylud , except it will most likely do everything Samsung's pen can. That includes detecting up to 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, and working with the new slates to write and store memos even when the screen is off, as well as outline screenshots or annotate PDF documents. Nothing was announced on its price and availability yet, but those looking to mask their digital nativeness should be excited by the new option.

The Jungle Book wins the Oscar for Best Visual Effects

The Academy Awards nominated the best of the best for the visual effect category this year, but in the end there could be only one winner, and it was Disney’s The Jungle Book . The film was part of a crowded field that included a variety of films from different genres. Laika’s Kubo and the Two Strings brought some stop-motion flair to the proceedings, Deepwater Horizon showed off Industrial Light & Magic’s ability to recreate real-world locations dealing the most harrowing of situations, and The Jungle Book was able to create a photorealistic world where humans could interact with walking, talking animals.

Suicide Squad just won an Oscar

Well, it happened: Suicide Squad just won an Oscar. The award went to Alessandro Bertolazzi, Giorgio Gregorini, and Christopher Nelson for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. It’s unusual for a movie like Suicide Squad , which many critics found messy , if not disastrous, to be recognized at the Academy Awards, but this award often goes to the most obvious choice. And Jared Leto’s Joker was nothing if not wearing makeup.

A classy, all-glass Android tablet that's HDR-ready

The Galaxy Tab S3's glass back combined with its metal frame looks impressively elegant and feels lux. Unfortunately, the glass easily attracts smudges. And if you were hoping for a pocket-sized version, don't hold your breath. Unlike the older Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, which came in 9.7- and 8-inch variants, the new model only comes in a 9.7-inch version.

Huawei P10 Plus review

That being said, Huawei does implement some optimization methods that we don’t see being toted around by other manufacturers. It offers memory optimization that will learn from your usage behavior and delegate RAM where it’s needed most. though during our early impression, we couldn’t tell a difference. Additionally, it will also feature a memory compression algorithm that will, you guessed it, condense items that you don’t use often into a smaller size so that you can get more use out of your storage space. If you’re interested in snagging Huawei’s latest plus-sized phone? Unlike the P10, the P10 Plus will be available in multiple configurations: 4GB RAM with 128GB of storage and 6GB RAM with 128GB variations.

Sony has sold nearly 1 million PlayStation VR headsets

A sales victory wouldn't exactly be surprising. PSVR requires a much smaller investment than its rivals -- even if you splurge on a PS4 Pro and a full VR bundle , you're spending far less than it takes to get a high-end PC VR headset and a computer powerful enough to handle it. And that's not including the physical space you need for room-scale VR experiences with PCs. Combine that with a healthy game library and console VR is likely to remain the front-runner for a while, at least until prices for headsets and VR-worthy PCs drop to the point where they're no longer luxuries.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium announced: 4K HDR screen, memory-stacked camera, and Snapdragon 835

Another thing I didn’t like about the XZ Premium was its external finish. The flagship Luminous Chrome color isn’t so much a color as a straight up mirror: much like the Z5 Premium before it, it’s incredibly reflective and picks up fingerprints with incredible ease. It’s almost like Sony designed this thing to sit in a museum rather than a person’s hand. The darker option, Deepsea Black, has a subtle hint of blue, but it too is an extremely glossy fingerprint magnet. Both handsets come with Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back, with metal antennas at the top and bottom of the device. I’d have preferred to see the metal back of the Xperia XZ making a return (which it does in the Xperia XZs).

Casey Affleck won the Academy Award for Best Actor, while writer/director Kenneth Lonergan picked up Best Adapted Screenplay. Sony Xperia XA1 review

The Sony Xperia XA1 release date and price still haven’t been set, but this 5-inch-screened option is small enough and low-spec enough to assume it’ll be on the lower end of the scale when launched, likely around April / May of this year in select territories (although that’s a lot of educated guesswork on our par from the 'spring' information we were given in relation to the XA1 release date).

G6, G5 and 5G: Everything from Mobile World Congress press day

With no Galaxy phone on deck, the LG G6 was the big dog of the day. The Korean company's 2017 flagship phone offers a nice big 5.7-inch screen with an unusually tall 18:9 aspect ratio (instead of the 16:9 standard). It's the first phone with support for Dolby Vision HDR, which could mean better-looking images, too. It's fully waterproof, and has a dual-lens camera with some nifty photo tricks, too. Early downsides? The G6 doesn't retain the LG G5 's swappable batteries -- a feature that's largely going the way of the dodo -- and its Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor is effectively a 2016 chip that's a step behind the latest and greatest 835 we'll see in upcoming phones .

Scott Pruitt Is Dead Wrong About Public Perception of the EPA

Because Pruitt now leads the EPA, he needs to take a step back from explicitly arguing against its mission. He wouldn’t say that the agency should be completely abolished but agreed that critics are “justified” when they call for its elimination. For now, he’s framing his elimination of regulations as an attempt to take the EPA back to its core mission of protecting our air and water. He said that “The previous administration was so focused on climate change and so focused on CO2, some of those other priorities were left behind.”

Cisco brings digital know-how to today's smart buildings

The Sinclair Hotel is a 1930’s Art Deco building being converted into a 165 room four-star hotel in FortWorth, Texas as part of the Marriott Autograph Collection portfolio. They will also be able to adjust the settings of the air conditioning and adjust the smart blinds accordingly. It’s “an integration of multiple sensors coming together and bringing a very rich, personalized experience for the guests notes Sachin Gupta.”Guest room preferences are also saved for when they visit again. ”

The Huawei Watch 2 is a strong showcase for Android Wear 2

The rest of the Huawei Watch 2's specs aren't bad either. You'll get NFC support for Android Pay and a heart-rate sensor on both the regular and Classic versions, which are two features the LG Watch Style did not offer. The regular Watch 2 will also have LTE support in certain regions, although it's not clear if that will be available in US models. Both editions of the Watch 2 are powered by the same Snapdragon 2100 chipset as on LG's new watches. But Huawei has a leg up on LG in one key area: battery life. By squeezing a 420mAh cell in these devices, Huawei promises up to two days' worth of endurance. Plus, with a new feature called Watch Mode, which disables everything except for a watchface and the pedometer, the Watch 2 is said to be capable of lasting an impressive 25 days.
