Ask HN: What is your password management solution? | Hacker News

I'm a huge fan of Enpass, simple and does exactly what it says on the tin. I've convinced friends and coworkers to switch over to it and they're all very happy with it from what I've heard. What I don't like, and one of the reasons I'm looking at moving away from it, is that the code isn't open source. It also conveniently enables the sending of analytics/data usage by default and hides the option to turn it off at the very bottom of the Preferences / Advanced tab. The only reason I even noticed this was from Little Snitch popping up to tell me. Maybe not a massive problem, but I'd rather a password manager didn't phone home every time I open the damn thing up. reply

The Best Virtualization Software of 2017

Also consider the depth of integration that you want between the virtual guest system and the actual host system. All virtualization apps offer varying degrees of cross-system integration. The champ in the integration sweepstakes is Parallels Desktop, which can optionally make all the files and folders that you have on your actual Mac desktop also appear on a virtual Windows desktop running under Parallels. You may or may not want this level of integration—I always turn it off because it adds to clutter and distraction—but you'll almost certainly want the ability to drag and drop files between the host and guest system and to copy text in the host and paste it in the guest, or the reverse. All the full-scale virtualization apps offer these features. WINE-based software like Wineskin Winery lets you share text via the clipboard, and lets you share folders between the OS X or Linux host and the guest Windows app. But setup can be tricky, and it uses an interface that looks like something out of Windows 95.

A vast oasis of aircraft lies deep in the Arizona desert

You need to go outside to get to the other hangars, and to see the really big aircraft. I made a beeline to one of my favorite airplanes, one I've never seen before in person: the B-36. Built in that transition period between props and jets, the "Peacemaker" has both. With six propellers (rear facing!) and four jet engines, the B-36 is one strange-looking aircraft. It's smaller than I pictured, though part of that could be because it's sitting next to a B-52, the aircraft that essentially superseded it, give or take a B-47 or several (there's one of those here, too).

SR-71, B-52, B-36, MiG-29 and more at the incredible Pima Air and Space Museum

It wasn't until I was checking the tags that I noticed this wasn't a B-29. It's a KB-50J , the post-war major update to the B-29 design. It has different wings, engines, tail and more. Oh, and I probably should have noticed that in addition to the fuel pods (it's a tanker) are two jet engines. So it's like the B-36, though it served the Air Force for twice as long.

The First Footage From Avengers: Infinity War Blows Away Even Your Wildest Expectations

Peter Parker is on the ground very hurt. “I’m sorry Tony,” he says behind tears with Iron Man holding his head. Thanos grabs Thor’s head and squeezes. Then Thanos, in the heat of battle with the Infinity Gauntlet on his hand, uses the power of the two stones he has (Purple and Blue, I think) to grab a moon. He starts to drag it toward whatever planet everyone is standing on. The debris starts to fly and... cut to title card.

Unstructured data: The smart person's guide - TechRepublic

The difference between an unstructured object of Jim Smith and a structured record of him is that the unstructured data object would be Jim's photo, which would require quite a bit of storage; the structured record of Jim Smith would be information about him, such as his address or his phone number. There is much more data in a full photo of Jim than in a small, fixed string of data elements like an address, phone number, etc. that you would find in a structured data record; for this reason, unstructured data, with the large objects that are assigned to its keys, requires more processing and more storage.

Onkyo’s new stereo receiver offers unique HDMI switching

With the sub in play the TX-8270's sound was more muscular and potent with Jay-Z's new "4:44" album. The music's pulse was visceral and more dynamically alive. Alternatively, I warmed up the sound without the sub by using the TX-8270's tone controls and boosting the bass. The TX-8270 sounds fine, but it's just not up to audiophile standards. Adding the Alpha SubZero i put the sound over the top, but that sub is long out of production. No worries, I know for a fact the Hsu Research VTF-1 MK3 subwoofer is an even better match with the MMGi speakers.

AR iPhone App Rapidly Takes Photos and Leaves Them Hanging in the Air

It’s the beginning of much more, the demo is just the beginning of an iOS App that will do a whole bunch more. Currently, it’s just a tool for taking very weird photos. It’s smooth, running 60fps with 150 photo frustums sitting there easily. My first real “app” - and it actually does something, it’s a great feeling watching someone use it, some people are really engrossed in the visual experience, there is usually no stuttering or latency, which for camera tracking even in night conditions is great with the contrasty colors.

Replace your dubious iPhone 7 headphone dongle with this $40 Lightning adapter

The FiiO i1's 32-inch (81mm) cable was too long, I'd be happier if it was half that length, but as it stands, the i1 is a viable alternative for iPhone owners who have a decent pair of wired headphones and want something a little better than Apple's less-than-stellar Lightning adapter. I'm hoping even better adapters will eventually show up, but for now, I'm sticking with my iPhone 6S that has a 3.5mm headphone jack and the Lightning connector.

Which programming languages are most popular (and what does that even mean)? | ZDNet

Finally, if you're starting a project, you need to choose what language to build in. Your first criterion should always be to use a language that can get the job done. If one language is hugely popular but would take two years to code, and another is less popular but would take two months for your application, you clearly should choose the less popular language. But, all things being equal, choosing a more popular language generally means access to more programmers and resources, so that's an important consideration as well.

Sprint customers who lease smartphones can now upgrade every year

If you’re not so eager that you need an annual upgrade, there are other options with Sprint Flex. After 18 months, you can choose to swap your phone and keep leasing something newer, or buy the device either outright or with six more monthly installments. You can also just keep on paying the lease fee every month or return the phone to Sprint after 18 months and be done with it. Those last two would strike me as the worst choices, but hey. As always, it’s worth reading through the FAQs to see if Sprint’s new options make financial sense or you. Sprint is also making a move for consumers who are price-sensitive or those with iffy credit through a new offer it’s calling Sprint Deals , where you can make a downpayment and get low monthly rates on older and pre-owned devices like the iPhone 6S and Galaxy S6.
