Third-party app developers could be reading your Gmail

According to the report, companies like Return Path Inc., which collects marketing data from people who sign up for one of the company's free apps, can scan and analyze about 100 million emails each day. The WSJ also says that while computers do most of this work, human employees read about 8,000 emails to help train the software. It's not just one company, either. Employees of Edison Software apparently reviewed the emails of hundreds of its users to make a new feature for its mobile app that reads and organizes your email.

The Moto G6 is ready for its close-up

The Moto G6 has portrait mode and selective focus (you can adjust blur before or after taking a photo), selective color, time lapse video and Snapchat-like face filters for the front-facing camera.

The Moto G6 shouldn't be this good and still cost $249

How do you follow up last year's wonderful budget-friendly Moto G5 Plus ? Well, you could start with the outside. Add a second rear camera for portrait mode photos. Trade that Micro-USB port for a USB-C. Get rid of the 16:9 screen ratio and go tall with a trendy 18:9 display that shows more vertically. Say bye to the metallic back side and hello to a glass back with curved edges, specifically Gorilla Glass 3 .

8 simple Microsoft Office 365 best practices for making your documents more accessible

The key to these best practices for making your communication effective and accessible for the disabled is to keep your documents simple. While that may make your documents somewhat muted creatively, it could also make their communication much more effective.

How to set up Storage Spaces in Windows 10

Storage Spaces is essentially a software-configured RAID (redundant array of independent disks) technology that is built right into the operating system. All you need is a couple of extra hard disks. Let's take a closer look at the steps involved.

500 Intel drones to replace fireworks above Travis Air Force Base for Fourth of July

It’s an impressive show of technology. I was in attendance for the first show at Disney World and the drones are a wonderful alternative to fireworks. Sure, fireworks are a Fourth of July tradition, but they can’t do the things these drones can do, plus, because they’re much more quiet, more people can enjoy the show.

The new Android Google Account settings app gives you everything you need and more

The new Google Account settings tool is worthwhile for the Security Issues Checker alone. The one thing you should know about this feature is that it tracks every device you have associated with your account. As I have multiple devices attached to my Google account, some of the security issues have nothing to do with my daily driver (Essential PH-1). In fact, it's important to remember the Google Account settings app is about your account, not necessarily your device. After going through all the issues the Security Checker found, not one affected my PH-1. However, it did reveal some issues that should be addressed. You'll even gain access to app passwords you've created. I discovered there were two, one of which I no longer needed. From within the new settings app, I could easily delete that app password.

10 apps to add features to Windows 10

It's been a long time since there was a new version of ClipMate , a clipboard extender that does more than just cut and paste, but that doesn't matter as it runs happily on Windows 10. Even with the OS's many new features, it's still an essential piece of software -- precisely because it does one thing and it does it well. With ClipMate every piece of text, or every object you clip is stored in a local database, so you can scroll back and forwards through your clipboard history, reusing items as necessary. If you put your ClipMate database in OneDrive, you've now got a cloud clipboard that works across PCs.
